david rubinone of the most renowned Spanish cartoonists, has given up being a finalist for the Dolmen Editorial Critics Awardsin which he aspired for Best Work, Best Screenplay and Best Drawing for his work ‘Fuego’.

The reason has been explained by Rubín himself on his X account (formerly Twitter): that no woman has sneaked in among the nominees for these awards.

Rubín, who has thanked the jury for the privilege of having been chosen in three categories, explains that he has been reflecting all weekend and that he has ended up making this decision.

“All that illusion and joy that invades me for such recognition is clouded by the fact of seeing that in said candidacies there is not a single nominated authorsomething that I consider unfair especially having read several workss from authors who they could perfectly choose to them,” he says.

We have been in the 21st century for 23 years and I believe that prejudices must be shaken and everyone being clear that it is not correct to leave aside and make work invisible of many authors who, in recent years, have signed some of the best works of Spanish comics“, develops Rubín.
