Davina McCall Apologizes for Profanity During Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day Broadcast

TV presenter Davina McCall issued an apology during Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day broadcast on Friday, March 21, 2026, after comedian Nick Mohammed swore during a live challenge. The incident occurred although Mohammed attempted to solve eight Rubik’s Cubes within one minute.

Rubik’s Cube Challenge and Unintentional Profanity

Mohammed, known for his role in The Celebrity Traitors, was participating in a Rubik’s Cube challenge on stage. He was joined by his former co-star, Joe Marler, dressed in drag, who attempted to distract him with a water pistol. As Mohammed struggled with the puzzle, he audibly exclaimed “oh f***” and “s***”.

Apology and Reaction

McCall quickly addressed the situation, apologizing to viewers, stating, “Before we go any further, we just wanted to apologise if anybody heard any bad language there. It was a very high-stress situation.” Mohammed, appearing confused, questioned if he was the one who had used the profanities. McCall responded, “I’m not sure, let’s not go over it again.” The studio audience responded with laughter, and applause.

A Playful Apology from Mohammed

After failing to complete the challenge within the time limit, Mohammed arranged the Rubik’s Cubes to spell out the word “sorry” – a gesture intended as an apology for his previous “banishment” of Marler on The Celebrity Traitors.

Red Nose Day Success

Despite the brief interruption, the Red Nose Day broadcast was a success, kicking off with a performance by Catherine Tate as her character Nan. The show also featured sketches inspired by popular BBC programs like The Traitors and Amandaland. McCall announced that the event raised over £30 million (€34.5 million) for Comic Relief.
