Delhi Air Pollution Triggers Health Surge

New Delhi: As toxic haze envelops Delhi-NCR, hospitals are experiencing a meaningful increase in patients reporting throat irritation, worsening of pre-existing health conditions, wheezing, and chest tightness. Several hospitals have established dedicated wards to address this influx of patients.

A recent survey by localcircles, a citizen engagement platform, reveals that 75 percent of households in delhi-NCR report at least one member experiencing symptoms similar to Covid, flu, or viral fever.

The survey gathered over 15,000 responses from residents across Delhi, gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded Delhi’s 24-hour Air Quality Index (AQI) at 373 (very poor) on Thursday, a rise from 279 (poor) the previous day.

Dr. Vivek Nangia, Vice chairman and Head of Pulmonology at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, stated that all patients seen at the facility on Thursday reported a worsening of their symptoms.
