Significant Decline in Dengue Fever Cases in Sukabumi City, 2026

Sukabumi City, West Java, is experiencing a notable decrease in dengue fever cases at the beginning of 2026. This positive trend contrasts with the conditions of the same period in 2025 and 2024, despite the presence of extreme weather patterns typically conducive to mosquito breeding.

Decreasing Case Numbers

In January 2026, Sukabumi City recorded 54 cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD), with no reported fatalities. This represents a significant reduction compared to the 1,017 cases reported throughout 2025, which included one death. The average number of cases per month in 2025 was approximately 84. Source

Geographic Distribution of Cases

The cases reported in January 2026 were distributed across seven sub-districts within Sukabumi City. The highest concentration of cases was found in Cisarua Village, Cikole Sub-district (7 cases), followed by Karangtengah Village, Gunungpuyuh Sub-district, and Baros Village/Sub-district, both with 6 cases each. Notably, 11 out of 33 villages in Sukabumi City reported zero cases of DBD. Source

Increased Mosquito Larvae Control

The percentage of areas free from mosquito larvae (Aedes aegypti) in Sukabumi City reached 97.4% in January, exceeding the national target of 95%. This indicates a substantial reduction in mosquito breeding grounds. Source

Focus on Prevention

Health officials emphasize that children remain particularly vulnerable to dengue fever. The Sukabumi City Health Office is actively promoting preventative measures, including the “3M Plus” strategy: draining and covering water storage containers, and recycling potential mosquito breeding materials. Ongoing Efforts

The Sukabumi City Health Office continues to monitor the situation and implement control measures to maintain the downward trend in dengue fever cases. Source
