Diablo IV’s Lord of Hatred Expansion: Paladin Early Access and the Arrival of the Warlock

Diablo IV is gearing up for its second major expansion, “Lord of Hatred,” set to launch on April 28, 2026. This expansion introduces new classes, a compelling campaign, and fresh content for players to explore. Currently, those who pre-purchase the expansion gain immediate access to the Paladin class, with the Warlock joining the fray upon the official release of Lord of Hatred.

The Paladin: Available Now with Pre-Purchase

The Paladin, once outcasts and sinners, has been reborn through the Wardens of Light, an order dedicated to defending Sanctuary. Players who pre-purchase the Lord of Hatred expansion can immediately play as the Paladin and experience the “Vessel of Hatred” content, bridging the gap to the full expansion storyline on April 28, 2026. Blizzard Entertainment details the Paladin’s diverse playstyles:

  • The Arbiter: Channels the purest form of Light, ascending into Angelic Form for increased speed and clarity.
  • The Zealot: Fuels faith through unrelenting fury, rushing into battle with fervor and conviction.
  • The Judicator: Commands the Light’s destructive potential, unleashing holy bombardments upon enemies.
  • The Juggernaut: Embodies holy resilience, turning defense into offense and absorbing blows for greater retribution.

Warlock Joins the Battle with Lord of Hatred

The Warlock, a master of forbidden knowledge who bends demons to their will, will be fully available with the release of the Lord of Hatred expansion. Blizzard’s Bjorn Mikkelson, a Diablo IV class designer, explained the timing of the Warlock’s introduction, stating that launching alongside the Paladin creates a compelling dynamic. “The class lives and breathes the infamous eternal battle between Heaven and Hell. This duality is a big part of the expansion. it’s really cool to have those two classes facing off.” He too highlighted the significance of the Warlock’s arrival coinciding with Diablo’s 30th anniversary, noting its essential place in the demon-summoning archetype of the game.
