Davao City Boosts Disaster Response with 38 New Vehicles
In a powerful gesture of preparedness, Davao City has equipped its disaster response agencies with 38 new land and water vehicles. The ceremonial blessing of these vital assets took place in front of City Hall on Friday morning.
This practical investment aims to bolster the city’s capabilities to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies and natural disasters.
A wide range of agencies will benefit from these new vehicles, ensuring a comprehensive approach to disaster management.
Vehicle Allocation and Enhancements
* **City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO):** Three ambulances to swiftly transport those in need of medical attention.
* **City Engineer’s Office (CEO):**
Four wheel-type excavators, three 10-wheeler dump trucks, four 6-wheeler dump trucks, and one 6-wheeler multi-purpose vehicle for clearing debris and providing logistical support.
* **City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO):** One van, one open dump truck, and three additional dump trucks to support its programs related to urban tree safety and growth.
* **City Transport and Traffic Management Office:** Three mobile emergency vehicles for quick deployment and on-site assistance.
* **Bureau of Fire Protection-Davao City and Task Force Davao:** Each receives one fiber boat for swift water rescues.
* **Davao City Police Office (DCPO):** Five trucks specifically designed for disaster response, four 4×4 vehicle trucks, and four fiber boats for search and rescue operations and maintaining law and order.
“These vehicles are a great Christmas gift that will improve our services during calamities and emergencies,” declared Alfredo Baloran, Head of the CDRRMO, during the blessing ceremony. He emphasized that the acquisition of these vehicles is a “priority” of the city government.
The allocation for these vehicles, totaling P637,704,000 from the supplemental budget (SB) 1, reflects the city’s commitment to enhancing disaster preparedness and ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
By investing in modern equipment and bolstering the capacity of its disaster response agencies, Davao City demonstrates its dedication to mitigating the impact of emergencies and building a more resilient community.
