Dresden Eislöwen Face Uphill Battle in Schwenningen

It seems like a mission impractical for the Dresden Eislöwen as they prepare for their DEL away game against the Schwenninger Wild Wings on Thursday evening. The DEL newcomer suffered a heavy 2-8 defeat in Nuremberg just four days ago – and they’re dealing with significant personnel issues. But the coach points to an interesting factor…

Niklas Sundblad (52),who was himself a coach for the Black Forest team from 2019 to 2021,says: “I know Schwenningen very well. They have the smallest ice surface in the DEL. That’s a bit of a difference in how you play there. Actually, it suits us well because we have many North American players.”

The playing surface dimensions in the Helios-Arena were modified during a renovation in 2020.
