The first residents have moved into the new Oscar Traynor Woods development in Coolock, Dublin 17, with applications now open for the next phase of affordable homes. The project, a collaboration between Dublin City Council, Glenveagh, and Clúid, aims to deliver 850 A-rated homes with a mix of tenures – affordable purchase, cost rental, and social housing.

Official Launch and Project Details

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ray McAdam, and Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD, officially launched the opening of the first cost rental and social homes on March 4, 2026 [Dublin City Council]. The initial phase, Coyne Woods, comprises 64 homes: 24 for social housing, 24 for cost rental, and 16 for affordable purchase [Dublin Live].

The housing mix within Coyne Woods includes 2 studio apartments, 12 two-bed houses, 42 three-bed houses, 4 four-bed houses, and 4 one-bed triplex homes [Dublin Live].

Cost Rental and Affordable Purchase Schemes

The 56 homes in Phase 1 of the Cost Rental scheme are being allocated via a lottery system. Residents have begun moving into two- and three-bedroom houses, with more expected to receive keys in the coming weeks. Additional phases of Cost Rental homes will become available throughout 2026 [Dublin City Council].

The first purchasers of the affordable purchase homes are anticipated to move in shortly. Dublin City Council is currently accepting applications for the next phase, which includes 57 homes to be delivered later in 2026.
