BHOPAL – the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Bhopal Zonal Office has successfully recovered and restituted properties valued at ₹180.87 crore to banks impacted by a significant, long-standing bank fraud case. This action follows a recent order issued by the Special Court (PMLA) in Indore on January 17, 2026, according to an official statement released by the central probe agency.
The court directed the restitution of properties with a fair market value of ₹106.5 crore – encompassing three attached properties – to a consortium of banks spearheaded by Punjab National Bank (PNB). The remaining assets are slated for return to other affected financial institutions.
The ED’s investigation revealed a complex scheme involving fraudulent transactions and diversion of funds, ultimately leading to the identification and attachment of these assets. This recovery represents a significant step towards rectifying financial losses incurred by the banking sector and underscores the ED’s commitment to combating economic offenses. Further details regarding the specific nature of the fraud and the individuals involved have not been disclosed at this time, pending ongoing legal proceedings.
