Eddie Aikau Invitational: The World’s Best Big Wave Surfers assemble

Winter is definitely here. The guest list for the Rip Curl Eddie Big Wave Invitational is out, and it’s packed with talent. Former champions like Landon McNamara, Luke Shepardson, and John John Florence are ready to compete. Legends like kelly Slater, Mark Healey, and Justine Dupont join them, creating a lineup of 32 of the world’s moast accomplished big wave surfers.

This year feels different. Sadly, Eddie Aikau’s brother, Clyde – the 1986 event winner – passed away earlier this year. It’s the first winter without him guiding the event. While no one can replace Clyde,the Eddie Aikau Foundation stepped up and finalized the official invitee list.

The Foundation carefully reviewed the last two events,held in 2023 and 2024,and used that data alongside past selection criteria. They’ve done thier homework,ensuring the best surfers are prepared to tackle the legendary waves at waimea Bay. this isn’t just about skill; it’s about honoring eddie’s legacy and the spirit of Hawaiian big wave surfing.
