National Police Implement One-Way Traffic System for Eid al-Fitr Return Flow

Semarang – National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo officially launched the national one-way traffic system for the return flow of Eid al-Fitr 2026 on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. The measure aims to alleviate congestion as the first wave of returning travelers peaks.

The launch event, marked by a ceremonial flag-off, took place at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate (GT) in Semarang, Central Java, at 2:25 PM local time (WIB). The one-way system is in effect from Kilometer 414 at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate to Kilometer 70 at the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate.

Present at the launch were Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Willan Oktavian, Jasa Marga Managing Director Rivan Achmad Purwantono, and Jasa Raharja Managing Director Muhammad Awaluddin. Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi and Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ribut Hari Wibowo as well attended the event.

Prior to initiating the one-way system, General Sigit engaged with motorists queuing for the return journey, distributing gift packages to travelers and their families. A total of 300 snack packages and 100 packages of children’s toys were distributed. The snack packages included biscuits, milk, mineral water, and health supplies like vitamins and eucalyptus oil. The children’s packages contained toys to help keep them entertained during the trip.

General Sigit reminded travelers to prioritize safety during their return journeys, emphasizing the importance of resting when feeling fatigued and utilizing the security and service posts provided by the National Police and other stakeholders.

The National Police Chief assured the public that all National Police personnel along toll and arterial routes are on standby to provide assistance and ensure a safe return flow, aligning with the 2026 Eid homecoming slogan: “Safe Homecoming, Happy Family.”
