Ella Lloyd to Test for Envision Racing in Formula E Madrid Rookie Test

British racing driver Ella Lloyd will participate in the Formula E rookie test for Envision Racing on March 22, ahead of the CUPRA Raval Madrid E-Prix. This will be Lloyd’s second opportunity to drive the GEN3 Evo car for the team.

Early Career and Rising Through the Ranks

Lloyd began her motorsport journey in 2022, competing in the Ginetta Junior Championship where she secured points in 15 of 25 races. She progressed to the Ginetta GT5 Challenge in 2023, achieving the vice-champion title with ten wins and ten pole positions. Dive-Bomb reports she claimed 10 wins, 10 pole positions and seven further podiums.

Single-Seater Debut and F1 Academy Success

In 2024, Lloyd transitioned to single-seaters, participating in the Formula Winter Series and earning multiple Female Driver Trophy wins. She also competed in British F4 with JHR Developments, achieving three podium finishes. Envision Racing notes her participation in the 2024 all-female test and the Berlin rookie day with NEOM McLaren Racing.

Lloyd’s performance continued to climb in 2025 with a dual campaign in British F4 and F1 Academy with Rodin Motorsport. She secured one win and three additional podiums in F1 Academy, currently holding third place in the championship standings with one round remaining. Wikipedia states she finished fourth in the 2025 F1 Academy Season with 109 points.

Looking Ahead to Madrid

“I’m really looking forward to driving the Formula E car again with Envision Racing,” said Lloyd. “The test last year in Valencia was a fantastic experience and I learnt a great deal from the team. I’m excited to build on that progress and continue developing in Madrid.”

Sylvain Filippi, Managing Director and CTO of Envision Racing, added: “We are delighted to welcome Ella back to the team for the Madrid rookie test. She demonstrated impressive pace during her first outing in Valencia. This test will be a great opportunity for her to continue that progress and further integrate with the team.”
