Cillian Murphy NOT a Zombie in “28 Years Later”? Decoding the Viral Trailer Mystery

Fans were abuzz when the trailer for Danny Boyle’s highly anticipated zombie sequel, *28 Years Later*, dropped. A shadowy figure resembling Cillian Murphy, star of the original 2002 film, sent speculation soaring. Was this a return of the iconic protagonist, now infected?

The scene in question showcased a strikingly thin figure, seemingly naked, rising from behind newcomer Jodie Comer. X (formerly Twitter) erupted with excitement, hailing Murphy’s “eerie vibe” and predicting a chilling performance.

Murphy’s weight loss for his role as J Robert Oppenheimer made him an easy comparison, but even before that, his striking cheekbones were a notable feature. However, *The Guardian* has revealed the truth behind the shadowy figure – it’s not Murphy, but newcomer Angus Neill.

Unveiling the “Emaciated Infected”

Neill, an art dealer and model with an impressive 28-inch waistline, was handpicked by Boyle for his unique look.

“Danny told me he’d always had me in mind for the role,” Neill shared. “So we met up, hit it off, and I agreed to take part.

“On set he has an extraordinary ability to hypnotise you, and working with him on the film was a very, very intense experience.”

While Murphy did express his eagerness to be part of a third film, it appears his reunion with Boyle will have to wait. Whether Murphy makes a surprise cameo later on remains to be seen.

“28 Years Later”

*28 Years Later* sees the return of series creator Danny Boyle and a star-studded cast including Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O’Connell. The film is slated for release in June 2025.
