Estelle Cruijff Opens Up About Past Relationships, Dismisses Abuse Claims
Dutch socialite Estelle Cruijff recently addressed her past relationships with footballer Ruud Gullit and kickboxer Badr Hari, clarifying claims of abuse and reflecting on patterns she’s recognized in her romantic history.
Divorce and Relationship with Badr Hari
In 2012, Cruijff’s twelve-year marriage to Ruud Gullit ended after she discovered him in an affair. Following the separation, she found comfort in a relationship with Badr Hari. “I felt alone and damaged,” Cruijff stated, describing the period following her divorce. She explained that she sought security with Hari, stating, “I wanted him to never let me go.” However, the relationship ultimately ended in 2013.
Addressing Abuse Allegations
During an appearance on the SBS6 program with Caroline van der Plas and Ruud de Wild, Cruijff directly refuted allegations of abuse by Badr Hari. When questioned by van der Plas about whether Hari had abused her, Cruijff responded firmly, “He never abused me. He was of course a challenging man.” She attributed the narrative of abuse to media portrayals.
Recognizing Unhealthy Patterns
Cruijff reflected on a pattern of seeking partners who offered “monkey love” – a term she used to describe superficial affection – while she invested significant emotional effort. She described this dynamic as a form of “gaslighting,” explaining that she would “do everything” to gain her partner’s attention. Cruijff stated she has learned from these experiences and would not repeat them, emphasizing that she now prioritizes respect over love.
A New Perspective on Relationships
Cruijff expressed a firm stance against repeating past relationship patterns. “If I ever meet such a man again, I will immediately show him the door,” she declared. “Then I’ll order an Uber for him. The sooner he’s gone, the better. Get out.”
Past Discoveries
Cruijff revealed that she caught Ruud Gullit having an affair, leading to the finish of their marriage.
The program featuring Estelle Cruijff airs every Sunday at 8 p.m. On SBS6.
