The efforts to extinguish the Tenerife forest fire have been carried out during the night without any relevant incidents despite the strong gusts of wind in the upper area of Santa Úrsula and La Orotava.

The night was “calm,” sources from the emergency services told EFE, recalling that 94 ground troops, including forestry brigades and the Military Emergency Unithave worked to contain the fire.

It is expected that the nine aerial means that already worked yesterday will be incorporated first thing in the morning, as well as the ground operation made up of 120 ground troops.

Also at 10:00 a.m. the meeting of the fire monitoring steering committee is scheduled to decide, among other aspects, on the situation of the 3,200 evacuees.

The fire, which affects the upper area of the municipalities of Santa Úrsula and La Orotava, is a reactivation of the forest fire that broke out on August 15 in Tenerife and although it was controlled on September 11, it has not been able to be extinguished.
