Steve Belichick to Join Father Bill at North Carolina

Bill Belichick’s coaching dynasty is expanding. Known for success with the New England Patriots, the legendary coach will continue a family tradition at the University of North Carolina. His son, Steve Belichick, is reportedly joining him as the Tar Heels’ defensive coordinator for the upcoming season, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

From Huskies to Tar Heels

Currently serving as the defensive coordinator at the University of Washington, Steve Belichick, 37, will have one final game with the Huskies on December 31st before transitioning to North Carolina.

A Legacy on the Field

Steve Belichick has a history with defensive coaching. He spent a decade on the Patriots’ defensive staff from 2012 to 2023, before moving to the University of Washington.

His brother, Brian Belichick, continues to coach in New England alongside Jerod Mayo, having joined the Patriots in 2016.
