Age-Friendly Apartments Coming to Fairview, Dublin 3
As many as 42 age-friendly apartments are to be built on a property in Fairview, Dublin 3, which had been used by the Billie Barry Stage School as one of its training schools. Last week a developer purchased the property at 80 Philipsburgh Avenue for around €3m and is understood to have a deal with Cabhrú Housing Association to build 42 one-bedroom apartments, a communal room, kitchen and office in two four-storey blocks on the site.
Details of the Development
The purchase includes a two-storey clubhouse building extending to 10,828 sqft will be demolished and parking for 50 cars.
It was formerly the Christian Young Men’s Club until local businessman Sean Giffney bought it and at one stage unsuccessfully sought to get a drinks licence for it.In 2019 he the property on the market along with the adjoining Fairview Pitch and Putt grounds with a €3.5m guide price.That offering also included the adjoining 1.4=acre pitch and putt club as Mr Giffney owned the leasehold interest on the course which had 64 years remaining. Its freehold is owned by Dublin City Council whose consent was required for any sale.
However, it was ed to allow the club to continue its use of the course.
