FAW Bestune Launches in Germany, Challenging Established Automakers

FAW Bestune, a brand of the Chinese automotive group FAW (First Automotive Works), has entered the German market with a three-model lineup: the T77 SUV, the B70 sedan and the B70S crossover. This launch, handled by the independent importer Automotive GmbH, represents a broader strategy than typical market debuts, aiming to establish a comprehensive presence from the outset.

A Competitive Sedan: The Bestune B70

The Bestune B70 sedan, a 4.85-meter-long vehicle, is drawing comparisons to models like the Ford Mondeo and Opel Insignia in terms of size and concept. It offers approximately 500 liters of luggage space, positioning it as a practical option for families and business users. Stylistically, the B70 shares design cues with sedans such as the Volkswagen Passat and Toyota Crown, featuring a prominent front design and streamlined silhouette.

Technical Specifications and Performance

The B70 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 218 hp and 340 Nm of torque. It achieves a maximum speed of 230 km/h and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The fuel tank capacity is 50 liters, with a manufacturer-stated average fuel consumption of 7.9 liters per 100 kilometers.

Equipment and Pricing

FAW Bestune aims to offer a high level of equipment for the price point. Standard features on the B70 include 19-inch alloy wheels with 225 mm tires, a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance systems, a panoramic glass roof, an electrically operated trunk, heated seats, a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera, and climate control. The starting price in Germany is €29,995.

Competitive Positioning

The B70’s pricing undercuts competitors; a new Volkswagen Passat Variant in Germany costs around €40,000. This price difference, combined with the B70’s standard equipment, positions it as a competitive offering in the German market.

FAW Group and Bestune’s Global Strategy

FAW Group, one of China’s largest automotive manufacturers, unveiled a new global strategy on February 4, 2026, at the FAW Bestune Global Eco-Partner Conference. This strategy focuses on full intelligentization alongside electrification for the Chinese market. MarkLines reports that Bestune launched an action plan for this transition, beginning with a strategic upgrade of the Yueyi model. Gasgoo reported on February 25, 2025, that Bestune debuted core technologies, including a new vehicle platform, power system, and smart cockpit at its tech day event.
