Evoluto’s Reimagined Ferrari F355: A Modern Take on a Classic

Britain’s Evoluto Automobili is nearing completion of its Ferrari F355 restomod project, the “355 by Evoluto,” with production slated to commence soon. The meticulously refined vehicle has undergone extensive testing, including 5,000 miles on the track and 10,000 miles on a dyno and will soon embark on a 20,000-mile durability drive to ensure production readiness.

A Nod to the Past, Engineered for the Present

First unveiled in 2024, Evoluto plans to deliver the first of a limited run of 55 cars by the end of 2026. Each vehicle will be backed by an unusual two-year, 20,000-mile warranty for a small-volume manufacturer [Hagerty].

Styling and Design by CALLUM

The 355 by Evoluto, styled by CALLUM, focuses on enhancing rather than radically altering the original design. Modifications include a slightly larger front grille with a carbon fiber spoiler, a carbon fiber rear diffuser, and all-around LED lighting. Notably, the iconic pop-up headlight mechanism has been retained [Top Gear].

Refined Interior with Modern Touches

The cabin has been updated with exposed carbon fiber and leatherwork, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, new pedals, a revised shift knob, and machined dials. Evoluto has eschewed large touchscreens, opting instead for a built-in phone holder and a hidden audio system [Hagerty].

Enhanced Performance

The heart of the 355 by Evoluto is a revised 3.5-liter naturally-aspirated V-8 engine. Featuring new camshafts, ported cylinder heads, and a full stainless steel exhaust system, the engine now produces 414 horsepower and revs to 8,500 rpm, an increase from the original’s 375 hp [Top Gear]. Customers can also opt for a 3.7-liter version generating 473 horsepower.

Chassis and Mechanical Upgrades

Beyond the engine, Evoluto has extensively reworked the chassis. Improvements include spot welding, carbon fiber bracing to increase torsional stiffness by 23%, repositioned upper and lower ball joints for modern wheel and tire fitment, and an improved caster angle. R53 ST46 adjustable dampers and a new steering rack (reducing turns lock-to-lock from 3.25 to two) further enhance handling. The car also features a new wiring harness (90% new) and a modern electric HVAC system [Yahoo Autos].

Rigorous Testing

Evoluto has subjected the 355 to rigorous testing, including high-speed aerodynamic assessments at the Catesby Tunnel, a 1.7-mile former Victorian railway tunnel used as a sealed testing environment [Hagerty].
