Ferry Doedens Documentary Reveals Struggles with Addiction and Crypto Losses
Former Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden (GTST) star Ferry Doedens is the subject of a new Prime Video documentary, Ferry Lost, which details his ongoing battles with drug addiction and significant financial losses due to cryptocurrency investments. The documentary offers a raw and revealing look into the actor’s life as he struggles to regain control.
Early Career and Initial Struggles
Doedens rose to prominence in 2009 with his role as Lucas Sanders in the popular Dutch soap opera GTST. His sister, Michelle, recalls the pride the family felt during this period, describing him as “a boy from Friesland” achieving success. Still, in 2015, his career was derailed by a cocaine addiction, leading to his dismissal from GTST.
Recent Relapse and Financial Difficulties
The documentary reveals that Doedens is once again facing challenges with substance abuse. His manager, Christian Looman, describes the situation as concerning, stating, “Crazy things are happening.” A significant contributing factor to his current struggles is a substantial loss of money through cryptocurrency investments. Looman explains, “He doesn’t have crypto under control, crypto has him under control.”
Doedens himself acknowledges the financial impact, estimating losses of around 50,000 euros. Despite these losses, he remains hopeful about certain cryptocurrency ventures, stating, “With this coin, I’m doing well.”
Concerns from Family and Friends
Friends and family express deep worry for Doedens’ well-being. A friend recounts late-night conversations that often revolve around his drug use. His sister Michelle observes a clear decline and emphasizes his require for help, which he doesn’t yet recognize.
Past Legal Issues
The documentary also touches upon Doedens’ recent legal troubles. In late 2025, he spent a week in jail after being arrested in 2024 for driving under the influence of GHB, speed, and crystal meth. He received a 70-hour community service sentence, which he failed to complete.
Documentary Release and Initial Reactions
Prime Video released the first images of Ferry Lost on February 10, 2026, with the trailer highlighting Doedens’ struggles. The documentary aims to provide an honest portrayal of his life, and challenges.
