Fettes Brot and Backshop Tiefkühl GmbH Launch Collaborative Sandwich Bread

Hamburg-based hip-hop group Fettes Brot has partnered with Backshop Tiefkühl GmbH, a frozen bakery goods wholesaler, to launch a recent sandwich bread product. The collaboration aims to create a high-quality bread that embodies the band’s Hamburg roots and appeals to a broad consumer base.

A Long-Held Vision Realized

According to a press release, Fettes Brot had long desired to create a signature bread product. “We wanted this bread for a long time – as something that lasts. A gift that isn’t just a gag, but actually tastes good and works. The fact that it turned out exactly as we imagined it is largely due to the right people in the right places,” stated the band. The resulting product is a brioche-style wheat bread, baked in a loaf form and weighing approximately 800 grams.

Product Characteristics and Appeal

The “Fettes Brot” bread is designed to resemble shokupan, a Japanese milk bread, but contains less sugar than traditional brioche. It is made with whole eggs, real butter, and yeast, contributing to a light texture and full flavor. The bread features a soft, slightly glossy crust, a fluffy crumb, and a subtle buttery flavor, making it suitable for both sweet and savory toppings. This versatility positions it as a premium base for to-head and convenience food applications.

Strategic Market Launch

The initial market rollout for “Fettes Brot” is focused on Hamburg and the surrounding region. This strategic decision reflects the band’s deep connection to the area, where their history began and continues to thrive. Approximately 3,000 loaves were initially distributed directly to fans during the premiere of the band’s concert film, “Brotstock,” in November 2025, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback on social media.
