The heat wave will put fifteen provinces of Andalusia, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, Galicia and the Community of Madrid at risk (yellow) or significant risk (orange) this Monday, August 7, with temperatures up to 44ºC, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

Specifically, Córdoba, Huelva, Jaén, Seville, Ciudad Real, Badajoz and Cáceres will be at significant risk due to high temperatures, while Ávila, Salamanca, Toledo, Ourense, Madrid, Granada and Cádiz will have a yellow warning due to the same phenomenon.

The province of Cádiz will also be affected by yellow warnings for wind –with strong gusts of up to 80 km/h– and waves, a phenomenon that, in turn, will put Mallorca and Menorca, in the Balearic Islands, on yellow alert, and Girona. Thus, in Andalusia, the Balearic Islands and Catalonia, waves of two to three meters high are expected with wind and swell from the northeast.

In general, the AEMET foresees cloudy intervals in Catalonia and the Valencian Community, with the possibility of some weak precipitation. There will also be cloudy intervals in the area of ​​the Strait, Melilla, north of the Canary Islands, and initially in the north of Galicia, the Cantabrian area and the Balearic Islands. Slightly cloudy or clear in the rest of the country.

The maximum temperatures will decrease in the south of Andalusia and the entire Mediterranean area, while they will rise in the rest of the Peninsula and will not present changes in the Canary Islands. The night temperatures, for their part, will drop in the northern third of the peninsula.
