Suspect Identified in Florence Woman’s Beheading in Scandicci
ROME – Italian police have identified a suspect in the beheading of a 44-year-old German woman in Scandicci, a suburb of Florence. The discovery was made on February 18th after a homeless individual alerted authorities to the abandoned site where the body was found.
Details of the Investigation
According to police statements, a machete and a knife with blood traces were recovered near the body. Scandicci is located approximately 6 kilometers (4 miles) southwest of Florence. Scandicci has a population of around 50,000.
The primary suspect, a young man from North Africa, was known to law enforcement and was hospitalized under surveillance at the time of the announcement. He was observed with “multiple traces of blood” on his clothing prior to the discovery of the body.
