Paul Merson Eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing 2024

Spoiler alert! Another celebrity has left the dazzling dance floor of Strictly Come Dancing. Former footballer Paul Merson bid farewell to the show on Sunday night, marking the fourth elimination of the season.

Despite his departure, Merson, 56, remained upbeat, stating he felt like a winner simply for learning to dance. “It’s been amazing… I’ve won because I can dance, I couldn’t dance before and I can half dance now. It’s a bonus, absolute bonus!”

Dance-Off Drama

Merson and professional partner Karen Hauer faced off against JLS star JB Gill and his partner Amy Dowden in a nerve-wracking dance-off. Although Gill and Dowden received a respectable 30 points from the judges for their energetic jive, they found themselves in the bottom two following the public vote.

“It’s been really good. For anybody I talk to, I would say you’ve got to go on this show. It’s amazing – everybody. There’s a Tottenham fan over there called Lincoln and even he’s nice,” Merson remarked.

The judges ultimately decided to save Gill and Dowden, praising their performance over Merson and Hauer.

A Week of Ups and Downs

Merson and Hauer had a tough week, scoring 19 points for their samba on Saturday, placing them at the bottom of the leaderboard. The competition was fierce, with other notable performers like Morning Live doctor Punam Krishan (21 points), TV personality Pete Wicks (22 points), and hockey player turned presenter Sam Quek (26 points) all vying for public and judge favor.
