Whisk Bakery & Cafe Hosts Community Easter Event with Symbolic Resurrection Rolls
Franklin, Texas – The Whisk Bakery & Cafe is inviting the community to participate in a unique Easter event on March 21st at 10:00 a.m., centered around the creation and symbolism of “resurrection rolls.” The event, open to all ages, aims to provide a hands-on and meaningful way to celebrate the Easter story.
The Story Behind the Roll
Participants will operate with homemade cinnamon roll dough, representing the tomb where Jesus was buried. A marshmallow, symbolizing Jesus, will be coated in butter – representing the oils used during burial – and then cinnamon sugar, symbolizing the spices. This marshmallow is then enveloped in the dough and baked.
“While it’s baking, we’ll read the Easter story and everyone can come and just celebrate Easter with us,” said Virginia Cox, co-owner of The Whisk Bakery & Cafe according to KBTX.
An Empty Tomb Revelation
The key moment of the event comes after baking. When the rolls are opened, participants will find the marshmallow has dissolved, leaving an empty space within the dough – a visual representation of the empty tomb and the resurrection of Jesus.
Community Connection
The idea for the event originated with Cox’s sister, who hosted similar gatherings for family Easter celebrations. “She brought it here so we can kind of do it with the community,” Cox explained. “It’s just a fun way to remember the resurrection and celebrate Easter.” The bakery emphasizes its commitment to fostering a sense of community in Franklin.
