Empowering Digital freedom: Join the Movement

The fight for digital autonomy is more critical than ever.As corporations and governments increasingly exert control over our technological lives, the principles of free software offer a powerful path towards reclaiming our rights and ensuring a future where individuals – not entities – dictate how technology is used. Thanks to the generous contributions of our community, we’ve welcomed over 100 new associate members during our spring fundraising drive. Though, we’re not there yet.

The final Stretch: 67 Members to Go

We’ve extended our fundraising campaign until July 18th, with a goal of reaching 200 new members. We are currently 67 members away from achieving this vital target. Your support is instrumental in strengthening the free software movement and building a more equitable digital landscape. Consider that in 2023,global spending on software reached over $650 billion – a small percentage redirected towards supporting freedom can have a significant impact.

Be a Voice for Freedom

Every contribution, no matter the size, directly fuels our work defending user rights and resisting the encroachment of restrictive technologies. Become an associate member today! Each new member brings us closer to our goal and amplifies our collective power.

Why Your Support Matters

The free software movement isn’t simply about code; it’s about empowerment.Just as choosing to avoid a single proprietary application reinforces the importance of software freedom, every donation to the Free software Foundation (FSF) strengthens our ability to:

Protect the GNU General Public License (GPL): We actively defend the GPL against legal challenges and attempts to undermine its core principles.
Advocate for Software Freedom: We champion policies and initiatives that promote user control and open-source alternatives.
* Sustain Essential Infrastructure: we maintain and support vital services for the GNU operating system and countless other free software projects.Think of it this way: foregoing a single, everyday expense – perhaps a $5 coffee – and donating that amount to the FSF can provide lasting support for a cause that safeguards your digital liberties.

Four Decades of Defending Freedom

For over forty years, the FSF has been at the forefront of the fight for software freedom. While significant progress has been made, the journey is far from over. with the dedication of our passionate community and the broader free software movement, we are confident in our ability to reach our goal of 200 new members and continue our crucial work. Join us in building a future where technology serves humanity, not the other way around.Image: Fight dystopia – Licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license.
