A federal judge in the United States has decided to send the founder of the cryptocurrency platform to jail FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried (known as SBF), for alleged tampering with witnesses facing the trial that he faces next October for crimes of fraud. The judge Lewis Kaplan presided over a hearing on SBF’s bail conditions after prosecutors argued the disgraced businessman was following a “pattern of witness tampering,” and sided with his conduct as probable cause, according to CNN.
SFB, 31, was arrested in December 2022 and is accused by the US Justice of seven counts that include fraud and money laundering for, among other things, allegedly diverting billions of dollars from clients of FTX for other purposes, but was provisionally released after posting $250 million bail, one of the highest in history.
