With a firm commitment to providing comprehensive support to individuals facing a cancer diagnosis, particularly breast cancer, the Cancer Support Group (GAC) has launched its annual campaign for the promotion and sale of commemorative shirts.this yearly activity takes place leading up to October, internationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This year, the group has made 400 shirts available in exchange for a 150-peso donation. All proceeds will directly fund the enhancement of the medical, emotional, and logistical support programs offered to those battling cancer. The initiative is based at Casa Rosa, a community space that has become a symbol of solidarity and hope within the city.
The campaign serves not only as a fundraising effort but also as a powerful means of raising awareness about cancer in the region and promoting a culture of prevention, early detection, and support. Each shirt sold represents a message of encouragement to those affected by cancer and an invitation for the community to actively participate in the cause.
Rosario Rodríguez, an active member of the GAC, explained that the shirt sale is a crucial activity for the group, valued not only for its financial contribution but also for its broad social impact. “Every year, we see increasing participation in this campaign. It’s splendid to see the shirts in schools, businesses, sporting events, and on the streets. This visibility helps raise awareness and break down stigmas,” she stated.
the shirt’s design is updated annually while retaining its signature elements: the color pink, the ribbon symbol, and messages of hope, strength, and importance.
