Galli Theater Kiel: Nurturing Creativity and Confidence in Young Performers

In the vibrant atmosphere of the Alte Mu in Kiel, the Galli Theater offers a unique theatrical experience where children are not merely spectators, but active participants in performances that extend beyond traditional theater. Founded in 2023 by Finn Lukas Kamm, Charlotte v. Stuckrad-Barre and Christiane Conradt, the theater prioritizes pedagogical development and creative expression.

A Foundation in the Galli Method

Finn Lukas Kamm, the theater’s director, built the theater after seven years of experience at the Galli Theater in Wiesbaden. The Galli Theater in Kiel operates under the Galli-Theater method, developed by Johannes Galli, who has written over 500 plays that serve as the foundation for their performances [Source: lebensart-sh.de]. These plays are adapted to suit the children’s individual wishes and needs.

From Mobile Beginnings to a Permanent Stage

Initially operating on a mobile basis throughout the Kiel area, the Galli Theater team established a permanent home in the Alte Mu in April 2025. Following extensive renovations, a dedicated stage was added in October 2025 [Source: lebensart-sh.de].

Theater Courses for All Ages

The theater offers courses for children aged three to twelve, divided into three age groups: three to six, six to nine, and nine to twelve. These small groups focus on developing voice, body language, and stage presence [Source: lebensart-sh.de]. The emphasis is on building self-confidence through theatrical expression.

“Everything is Playable”

Kamm emphasizes a pedagogical approach that believes every child deserves a place on stage, embracing their individual preferences. “If a child says they aim for to be a flower, then please let it be a flower,” he explains. Even seemingly minor roles are developed to ensure every child feels integral to the performance [Source: lebensart-sh.de].

Interactive Participatory Theater

Weekend programs feature interactive participatory theater, blurring the lines between stage and audience. Classic fairy tales are staged with costumes, allowing children to actively join the action. The performances are spontaneous, with actors responding to children’s input, creating a unique community experience [Source: lebensart-sh.de].

Bringing Theater to Schools and Daycare Centers

The Galli team extends its pedagogical approach to schools and daycare centers in Kiel, using theater projects to address topics like bullying and integration. They utilize the power of fairy tales to explore complex social dynamics, such as demonstrating that being different is a strength in plays like “The Ugly Duckling” [Source: lebensart-sh.de].

Current Productions and Contact Information

Finn Lukas Kamm is currently featured in productions of “Hänsel & Gretel,” “Hans im Glück,” “Der Froschkönig,” “Rapunzel,” “Rotkäppchen,” “Der Wolf & die 7 Geisslein,” “Die Schneekönigin,” and “Die Weihnachtsgeschichte” [Source: galli-kiel.de].
