Construction Underway at Iran’s Fordo Nuclear Facility Following Attacks

Recent satellite imagery from Maxar Technologies reveals significant construction activity at Iran’s Fordo nuclear facility, a site previously targeted by military action. Teh images indicate a focused effort to address damage adn perhaps restore operations. The June 29th imagery shows heavy machinery – including an excavator, crane, bulldozer, and lorry – actively working at various points around the facility. An excavator and crane are positioned near a newly built access road close to the area impacted by US bunker-busting bombs. further down the mountainside, a bulldozer and lorry are also visible.Construction is also taking place at the site’s entrance and at a building on the east side of the complex, both of which sustained damage during recent Israeli strikes following the US military actions.

Nuclear weapons specialist David Albright, after analyzing imagery from june 28th, suggests the construction work could involve filling in craters created by the strikes, conducting thorough damage assessments, and collecting radiological samples.

While former President Donald Trump asserted that the strikes had effectively destroyed Iran’s key nuclear enrichment capabilities, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, indicated on Friday that Iran may be able to resume uranium enrichment within months.

The ongoing construction suggests Iran is actively working to mitigate the effects of the attacks and potentially expedite the restoration of its nuclear program.
