Big Blue in Town
following one of the biggest regular season wins in program history, Georgia welcomes Michigan to Athens for a Sunday matinee, looking for three consecutive shutouts for the first time since 2023. The Bulldogs are looking to carry the momentum from Thursday’s 2-0 victory over North Carolina, while the Wolverines seek to bounce back from a 3-1 loss at Alabama. Sunday’s match is only the second all-time meeting between the programs, with Georgia prevailing, 1-0, in a neutral match at UAB on Sept. 15, 2002. Georgia holds a 7-4-2 record against Big Ten opponents, having just dropped a 1-0 contest to UCLA on Aug. 14. Under Keidane McAlpine, the Bulldogs are 2-1-1 against B1G members, earning wins over Iowa and Illinois in the past two seasons.
Coaching Ties
Coach McAlpine will see a familiar face on the sideline in Michigan head coach Jennifer Klein, who served as one of his assistant coaches for six seasons at Washington State and USC (2012-17). Klein was a member of the 2016 Trojans staff that won the program’s second national championship. This is the second meeting between McAlpine and klein as head coaches, with McAlpine holding a 1-0 advantage after Washington State defeated Klein’s Dartmouth squad, 1-0, in 2015.
