Fire at Gek Hong Temple in Geylang Sends One to Hospital

One person was taken to Raffles Hospital after a fire broke out at Gek Hong Temple in Geylang on March 20, 2026. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the incident at 14 Lorong 26 Geylang at approximately 12:35 PM.

Details of the Incident

The fire involved a patch of vegetation measuring approximately 5 meters by 5 meters. SCDF extinguished the flames using a hose reel.

Response and Assistance

Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC MP Cai Yinzhou witnessed the incident and assisted in firefighting efforts before the arrival of SCDF. He observed an elderly couple attempting to extinguish the fire with a hose and used a fire extinguisher retrieved by a local resident to help contain the blaze. SCDF arrived on the scene within approximately 10 minutes.

Investigation and Safety Reminders
