Gimpo City Offers Low-Interest Loans for Food Hygiene Businesses in 2026

Gimpo City, South Korea, is providing financial support to local food hygiene businesses through the ‘2026 Food Promotion Fund Loan Support Project.’ This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on these businesses and enhance sanitary conditions, offering loans with a fixed annual interest rate of 1%.

Loan Details and Eligibility

Funded by the Gyeonggi-do Food Promotion Fund, the project offers two types of loans: facility improvement funds and operating funds. The maximum loan amounts are as follows:

  • Production Facility Improvement (Food Manufacturing & Processing): ₩500 million
  • Facility Improvement (Food Service Establishments): ₩100 million
  • Restroom Facility Improvement: ₩20 million
  • Operating Funds (Exemplary Restaurants & Businesses): ₩30 million

Repayment terms vary depending on the loan type. Facility improvement loans have a 2-year grace period followed by 3 years of repayment, while other loans offer a 1-year grace period and 2 years of equal installment repayments.

Crucial Changes and Restrictions

Applicants should be aware of recent adjustments to the support requirements. Franchise businesses are now ineligible for facility improvement funds. Businesses that are currently closed, have a history of closure, or have received administrative penalties are also excluded from receiving loans.

Application Process

Interested business owners should first consult with the Gimpo City branch of NH Nonghyup Bank in Sau-dong to confirm their eligibility. Following the consultation, applicants must submit their application and required documentation to the Food Safety Department of Gimpo City Hall. The project operates throughout the year, but funding may be exhausted before the end of the year, so early application is encouraged.
