“Godzilla Minus Zero” is the Next Godzilla Film

Earlier this year, Takashi Yamazaki, the director, screenwriter, and visual effects supervisor of “Godzilla Minus One,” was announced to return for a new Godzilla movie.

At Godzilla Fest 2025,held Monday on Godzilla Day at Tokyo’s Kanadevia Hall,the title for the new film was revealed: “godzilla Minus Zero.” yamazaki also designed the official logo (see above).

What does “Godzilla Minus Zero” mean? Since “Godzilla Minus One” took place before the 1954 “Godzilla” film, the official release simply stated, “Stay tuned for further updates.”

Could this be a remake of the original film? We’ll have to wait and see.

“Godzilla minus One” was the 30th live-action Godzilla film made in Japan. It was a big success around the world, earning over $113 million, including $57 million in the United States. It was also the first Godzilla film to win an Academy Award, winning the best Visual Effects Oscar at the 96th Academy Awards. The film also received more than 50 other awards.
