Good Hope Wins Second Alabama Class 4A Girls Basketball Championship in Three Years
BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Good Hope Raiders secured their second Class 4A girls basketball state championship in the last three seasons on Friday night, defeating the Plainview Bears 59-54 at the BJCC’s Legacy Arena. The victory avenges last year’s championship-game loss to Trinity Presbyterian of Montgomery.
Ella Davis Leads the Charge
Good Hope’s Ella Davis was instrumental in the win, scoring a game-high 18 points and earning the 4A state tourney MVP award. After Plainview took their first lead in the third quarter, Davis responded with a personal 11-0 run, shifting the momentum back to Good Hope.
“That’s a player making plays,” said Good Hope coach Justin Aby. “Ella is an elite basketball player. She wasn’t pleased with the way she played in the first half. She responded in the second half. That’s exactly what we needed.”
Game Recap
Good Hope started strong with an 11-0 run, but Plainview’s Piper Anderson kept the Bears competitive, scoring 17 first-half points. The Raiders led 24-19 at halftime.
