Grand Theft Auto VI has drawn 7.7 million pre-orders worth roughly $751 million, according to analytics firm Sensor Tower, as reported by MovieZine. Rockstar Games’ crime epic releases November 19, and the numbers show the wait is nearly over.

The scale of the game is becoming clear in the final weeks before launch. Notebookcheck reported that a leak lists 55 trophies and Xbox achievements for GTA 6’s single-player mode, including a platinum trophy for PS5 players and a rare mythic achievement for Xbox Series X and S owners.

Aftonbladet reported that Rockstar has confirmed the game will require up to 212 gigabytes of storage — more than a third of the 667 GB usable on a launch-model PS5 — making it the largest game the studio has ever shipped.

212 GB on the Hard Drive: Pre-Load Starts November 10

Rockstar announced on its website that the digital pre-load begins Tuesday, November 10, Aftonbladet reported. On PS5, downloads open at midnight local time in each time zone; on Xbox Series, the pre-load starts at 01:00 on November 10. The game launches November 19.

The install size dwarfs Rockstar’s previous titles. Red Dead Redemption 2 required between 100 and 150 GB depending on platform, and GTA V needs up to 100 GB on newer systems, Aftonbladet noted. Going further back, GTA IV and San Andreas each required up to 10 GB. The state of Leonidas is reportedly about twice the size of GTA V’s map and three times larger than Red Dead Redemption 2’s world.

55 Trophies and a Mythic Achievement: Completion Will Take Time

The leaked trophy list, detailed by Notebookcheck, suggests a longer road to completion than earlier Rockstar games. GTA V launched with 49 achievements on Xbox 360 and 50 trophies on PS3, later expanded by one in the next generation, while Red Dead Redemption 2 shipped with 51 achievements on Xbox One and 52 trophies on PS4, including a platinum. Many of those were tied to multiplayer modes.

Rob Nelson, who shares the role of studio head at Rockstar, said the main story and a number of extra missions require roughly 80 hours of play, Notebookcheck reported. With the freedom given to protagonists Jason and Lucia, earning the platinum trophy or the mythic Xbox achievement could feel overwhelming. A GTA Online successor appears inevitable, and as with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, it will almost certainly add new trophies in GTA 6.

7.7 Million Pre-Orders and $751 Million Before Launch Day

Sensor Tower’s figures, cited by MovieZine, put pre-orders at 7.7 million copies, translating to about $751 million in revenue for Rockstar. Some 71 percent of pre-orders were for PS5, with 26 percent for Xbox Series X and S. Bookings surged after Rockstar showed the game in a video exclusive to Netflix, which drew 31 million views before appearing on YouTube hours later.

For context, MovieZine noted that Resident Evil Requiem sold 8.5 million copies and Cyberpunk 2077 had about 8 million pre-orders before its launch — Cyberpunk has since sold more than 40 million. Piper Sandler has predicted GTA 6 will sell 45 million copies at launch, according to Kotaku.

A Launch Gallery Shows Leonidas and Vice City

Rockstar released a launch gallery of new images this week, FZ.se reported. The shots range from sun-drenched views of Vice City to a dusk scene of Jason and Lucia looking out over the city, plus portraits of characters and a glimpse of a dragon fish. The full gallery is available on Rockstar’s site.
