Bluebird has begun selling refurbished 2019 Toyota Alphard people-carriers from its taxi fleet at prices starting at Rp 390 million, a fraction of the more than Rp 1 billion that newer used models command, Detik Oto reported. The Alphard is often a symbol of success and a favorite of government officials, but new units at dealers also exceed Rp 1 billion, blocking many buyers; the used-car market offers an attractive shortcut for premium-car fans with limited budgets.
The units come from Bluebird’s Narogong pool in Bekasi, West Java, where Daniel Setiawan, the pool’s marketing supervisor, said the standard X trim is listed at Rp 390 million. A restyled version with Modellista-style bodywork sells for Rp 460 million, or Rp 480 million in white, Setiawan said.
The Rp 1 Billion Price Gap
A 2024 or newer used Alphard still sells above Rp 1 billion on marketplaces, and even a 2019 model listed on Facebook Marketplace goes for more than Rp 400 million, Peradaban.id reported. Against those figures, Bluebird’s Modellista unit at Rp 460–480 million leaves a gap approaching Rp 1 billion.
Blue Bird Extends Vehicle Lifespan Through Refurbishment
Each Alphard carries between 200,000 and 300,000 kilometers because Blue Bird operates its vehicles for five years before refurbishing them, Setiawan said. The company rechecks every system before release, replacing parts such as radiators and shock absorbers when needed, he said. The Modellista conversion uses aftermarket parts designed specifically for the 2019 Alphard, with styling nearly one-to-one with the latest version, Setiawan said.
The Modellista version also gets a cabin upgrade: VIP seats with a massage function, which Setiawan described as better equipped than the basic trim.
Warranty, Taxes, and Service After the Sale
Buyers receive a six-month engine warranty with no kilometer limit, covering overheating risk, and can test-drive the vehicle before purchase. Complaints such as suspension noise are repaired directly at the pool, Setiawan said. While registered to Bluebird as a company vehicle, the Alphard X carries a yearly vehicle tax of about Rp 12 million; after transfer to an individual, Jambi Independent reported the figure rises to an estimated Rp 15 million or more, depending on the buyer’s progressive tax status in their region. Buyers can handle the title transfer themselves or receive full assistance from Bluebird through an official release-of-rights letter. After-sales service runs through Bluebird’s BirdMobil workshops in BSD, Mampang, and Kramat Jati, Peradaban.id reported.
