Tiago Volpi: A New Chapter at Grêmio

Veteran goalkeeper Tiago Volpi has joined Grêmio for the 2025 season, bringing a wealth of experience and leadership to the Porto Alegre giants. At 34, Volpi is a seasoned professional who has honed his skills in top leagues across Brazil and Mexico.

His journey began in his native Santa Catarina, with stints at São José and Luverdense, before carving a path to success at Figueirense. A pivotal figure in their promotion to Série A, Volpi quickly established himself as a reliable presence between the posts. This attracted the attention of Mexican club Querétaro, where he spent four seasons, racking up almost 200 appearances. He tasted silverware during his time in Mexico, lifting both the Liga MX title and the Supercopa.

Returning to Brazil in 2019, Volpi contributed to more accolades with São Paulo, playing a key role in their Paulista Championship triumph in 2021. His journey then took him back to Mexico for a season with Toluca, showcasing his adaptability and versatility.

Now, a new chapter unfolds at Grêmio.

The veteran goalkeeper is renowned for his penalty-saving prowess, a skillset already generating excitement amongst the Grêmio faithful.

“My priority is to integrate quickly into the team and solidify my position as a reliable and strong presence in goal. I want to provide stability and confidence to my teammates, be a leader in the backline, and of course, contribute as much as I can to achieving victory in every match. I’m looking forward to this challenge and the opportunity to prove myself at Grêmio,” Volpi stated.

The club will officially present Volpi to the fans at a press conference on Tuesday at 12:30 pm at CT Luiz Carvalho, where he will undoubtedly receive a warm welcome from the passionate Grêmio supporters eager to see their new goalkeeper in action.
