PITTSFIELD, MA – Greylock Federal Credit Union originated 255 single-family home loans in Massachusetts during the past year, surpassing all other credit unions in the state, according to data from Banker & Tradesman, a Massachusetts-based business magazine focused on real estate. This represents a significant lead, with Greylock issuing 78 more loans than the second-place credit union, Workers Credit Union of Littleton, which provided 177 loans.

Loan Volume and Average Amounts

While Greylock led in the number of loans issued, Workers Credit Union provided the largest total amount in home lending, totaling $121,769,548. Greylock Federal Credit Union loaned $71,344,073, ranking third among credit unions in total lending volume. The average loan amount issued by Greylock was just under $280,000.

Local Impact in Berkshire County

In Berkshire County, Greylock financed 23 percent of all property purchases in 2025, according to Tara McCluskey, Vice President of Mortgage Originations at Greylock. The credit union attributes its success to a strategy focused on financial education, borrower support, and calculated lending decisions, allowing for high loan volume with managed risk.
