Phoenix Airport Grounded by Storm

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop at Phoenix Sky Harbor international Airport on Thursday, October 9, due to severe weather.

The ground stop began at 2:45 p.m. and was initially expected to last until 4 p.m., though the FAA indicated a 30% to 60% chance of extension. Flights experienced an average delay of 56 minutes.

Further disruptions are possible through the weekend as moisture from Hurricane Priscilla brings continued rainfall to the Phoenix area. A dust storm also impacted the region.
