After the video went viral and drew public criticism, the preacher from Kediri, Gus Elham Yahya Al-Maliki, finally opened his voice. He publicly apologized for the uproar caused by the video of him kissing children on stage during the recitation.
In his statement seen detikJatim on the Instagram account @fuadbakh, Gus Elham called the incident a personal mistake and emphasized his commitment too improving himself.

With great humility, I, Muhammad Elham Yahya Al-Maliki, personally apologize profusely to the entire community for the circulation of the video which caused a commotion.
