Luis Peterson Rohr Ferreira Borges, a 25-year-old Brazilian citizen residing illegally in the United States, was sentenced to nine months in federal prison for assaulting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers during his arrest in Hartford, Connecticut.
Incident and Arrest
The case stems from an incident on June 25, 2025, when ICE officers attempted to arrest Ferreira Borges near Zion Street in Hartford. After being taken into custody, he became violent even as inside a government vehicle en route to the federal building on Main Street. According to prosecutors, Ferreira Borges kicked and flailed, yelled obscenities and threatened to kick an ERO officer in the neck. He then bit one ICE officer and spat on another who was driving the vehicle.
Legal Proceedings
Ferreira Borges pleaded guilty to assaulting a federal officer before U.S. District Judge Vernon D. Oliver in Hartford. The guilty plea was entered on Thursday, as announced by David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. The sentence of nine months of imprisonment was imposed by Judge Oliver following the plea.
