MLS Mourns the Loss of Rising Star Holden Trent

Major League Soccer has been struck by the tragic passing of a rising star, goalkeeper Holden Trent of the Philadelphia Union, who died at the age of 25 on October 26th.

Trent’s family confirmed the news in a heartfelt statement posted to his Instagram page. “Holden passed away this afternoon surrounded by his family and friends,” the statement read. “We want to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Details on services and celebration of life are forthcoming. Our family is deeply touched to see and experience the love you all have for Holden. Love, Holden’s Family.”

A Devoted Son, Brother, Fiancé, and Teammate

The Philadelphia Union also released a statement expressing their profound sorrow at the loss of their beloved player. “The Philadelphia Union is devastated by the heartbreaking passing of Holden Trent,” the club said on their website. “While he was a wonderful player and fierce competitor, he was more importantly a devoted son, brother, fiancé, and teammate who made those around him better.”

Trent had recently gotten engaged to his fiancé Brie last December.
