Home Arrest for Youth Accused in Assault of Police Commissioner

The Court of Appeal in Veliko Turnovo has ordered home arrest for Julien Kyazimov, one of four young men accused in the beating of Ruse Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior Director Commissioner Nikolay Kozhuharov adn his neighbor, Georgi Dimitrov.

At the start of the hearing, prosecutor Dimitar Leshtakov from the Appellate Prosecutor’s Office in Veliko Turnovo argued for maintaining the Ruse District Court’s detention order. He stated the initial decision was supported by the evidence and pre-trial proceedings. Leshtakov emphasized Kyazimov faces two charges and there’s a risk he might flee to avoid prosecution.

Kyazimov and his defense team requested a more lenient measure – either house arrest or a written promise to appear in court – to allow him to continue his education.
