The Hospital Clínic-Idibaps of Barcelona has announced that it is going to launch a clinical trial with a new self-developed CAR-T therapy (academic, has no industry behind it), called ARI-HER2+. It will be intended for women with HER2+ breast cancer without treatment options.

It will be the first time that is tested an advanced therapy of this type in that indication worldwide. They will take the first step by carrying out a phase I clinical trial, in which they will look for safety data.

there is already positive preclinical data and the production technique for personalized therapy is currently being fine-tuned to be able to manufacture it in a personalized way and test it on patients starting next year.

The project has the financial support of one million euros over the next five years. The English Courtwhich, in collaboration with the Spanish Association Against Cancer, is also financing with the same aid (another million euros) the immunotherapy from Clínic-Idibaps TILS001 for metastatic triple negative breast cancer in selected patients with the PD1 marker.

It must be remembered that the Clínic-idibaps also has the CAR-T ARI-0001 for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, already authorized for use by the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (Aemps), and the ARI-0002 for multiple myeloma. With all this, this Barcelona center establishes itself as a national and international reference in this type of advanced and personalized therapies.
