the Montreal Canadiens saw several players depart during the offseason. Even after training camp, some players found new homes elsewhere, notably Samuel Blais, claimed off waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs. But what about the season debuts of Emil Heineman,Joel Armia, and other players who previously wore the CH uniform?
Emil Heineman Produces and Reassures the Islanders
Forward Emil Heineman was acquired by the New York Islanders along with two first-round draft picks in exchange for Noah Dobson. Islanders fans quickly highlighted perceived flaws in Dobson while expressing confidence that Heineman would play in the team’s top six. This was a surprising prediction,as Heineman’s role in Montreal didn’t appear to be similarly destined.
Though, he is currently performing well offensively and demonstrating physical robustness. Heineman appears highly valued by his new institution and is off to a strong start. He currently has a four-game point streak, with three goals and one assist for a total of four points in six games. He currently plays on the Islanders’ first line alongside Jonathan Drouin and bo Horvat and sees time on the second power-play unit, specifically in the “bumper” position within the enclave.
Joel Armia, Still Consistent?
he performed well in the playoffs last year, but even with a change of scenery, joel Armia remains a reliable, if understated, player. With the Los Angeles Kings, where he signed as a free agent, he has occasionally been deployed on the power play. However, his primary role on special teams remains penalty killing.
So far, the Finn has recorded three assists in seven games. Surprisingly, Joel armia isn’t playing on a third line as many might have expected. he occupies a spot on the first line alongside Kevin Fiala and Quinton Byfield. This isn’t a temporary arrangement,as they have played 56 shifts together over the last five games, making this trio the most frequently used unit, comparable to the line of Danault,Moore, and Foegele.
