Geno Crandall, born October 21, 1996, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a professional basketball player currently playing for Benfica of the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol.[1, 2] His journey to the professional level includes a collegiate career at both the University of North Dakota and Gonzaga University, followed by stints with several European teams.
Early Career and Collegiate Success
Crandall honed his skills at DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis, contributing to three consecutive state championship-winning teams.[1] He received Tri-Metro All-Conference recognition in both his junior and senior years.[1] Despite this high school success, Crandall was lightly recruited and began his collegiate career as a redshirt freshman at the University of North Dakota in the 2015–16 season.[1]
After four seasons at North Dakota, Crandall transferred to Gonzaga University as a redshirt senior for the 2018–2019 season.[1]
Professional Career
Undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft, Crandall began his professional career with Tuři Svitavy in 2019–2020.[1] He then moved to the Leicester Riders (2020–2022), where he earned back-to-back British Basketball League (BBL) Most Valuable Player awards in 2021 and 2022, along with the BBL Play-off Final MVP and BBL Cup Most Valuable Player honors in 2022.[1]
Following his success in the BBL, Crandall played for BG Göttingen (2022–2023) and Hapoel Be’er Sheva (2023) before joining EWE Baskets Oldenburg (2023–2025).[1] Currently, he plays for Benfica, signing with the Portuguese club in 2025.[1, 2]
