Humanoid Robot Shipments Surge: China Dominates the Market in 2025

Global shipments of humanoid robots exceeded 14,500 units in 2025, signaling a rapid expansion in this emerging technology. A significant portion of this growth is driven by Chinese manufacturers, who accounted for approximately 90% of worldwide sales. Whereas applications currently focus on research and industrial settings, the potential for broader adoption in retail and household tasks is on the horizon.

Leading Companies in Humanoid Robot Sales – 2025

The following table ranks companies by the number of humanoid robots shipped in 2025:

Company Units Sold (2025) Country
Unitree 5,500 China
AgiBot 5,168 China
UBTECH 1,000 China
Leju Robotics 500 China
Engine AI 400 China
Fourier Intelligence 300 China
Figure AI 150 U.S.
Agility Robotics 150 U.S.
Tesla 150 U.S.
Others 1,350 Various

China’s Ascendancy in Humanoid Robotics

Unitree led global sales with 5,500 units shipped in 2025, a substantial increase from around 1,500 units the previous year. The company’s models are recognized for their advanced capabilities and affordability, with the R1 model priced at $5,900 and robot dogs available for $1,600. AgiBot followed closely with 5,168 units sold, its lowest-cost model priced at $14,500. Notably, 21 new humanoid robot models were introduced in China in 2025, compared to just three in 2022.

While Elon Musk has projected that humanoid robots could outnumber humans by 2040, Tesla’s rollout has been slower. The company shipped 150 Optimus models in 2025, with plans for public sales beginning in 2027. Figure AI and Agility Robotics, also leading U.S. Companies, each shipped approximately 150 units. Despite limited deliveries, Figure AI experienced significant investment, achieving a $39 billion valuation, up from $2.6 billion in 2024.

The Role of China’s Supply Chain

China’s dominance in the humanoid robotics market is underpinned by a highly integrated supply chain concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta region. This region hosts both Unitree and AgiBot, as well as key suppliers of robotics components. Companies like DeepSeek and Alibaba, with its AI model designed for robotics, are also located in this cluster. The region’s established electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing infrastructure provides a crucial foundation, as many components used in EVs can be repurposed for humanoid robot production.

Currently, China controls approximately 26% of the global actuator market, compared to roughly 5% for the United States. China dominates the production of critical minerals and rare earth elements, essential for humanoid robot manufacturing, accounting for around 60% of global production. These supply chain advantages provide China with a structural advantage in scaling these emerging technologies.
