Business leaders and world Internet network managers are scheduled to gather in Jakarta at the 2026 Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies (APRICOT) organized by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), Monday (9/2/2026).

The forum will feature more than 900 Internet experts and technology leaders from more than 50 countries, from local network operators to global platforms such as Google, Amazon and Meta. They will discuss the latest Internet network technology as well as development trends in the global digital ecosystem.

Chairman of APJII Muhammad Arif emphasized that APJII has always been the leading organization in encouraging digitalization in Indonesia.

“By hosting APRICOT, APJII is also showcasing the collective progress and contribution of nearly 1,469 Internet service providers in strengthening national Internet infrastructure,” he said in a press statement, Saturday (7/2/2026).

A number of key speakers are scheduled to attend, including Indonesian cyber security expert Budi Rahardjo, Harvard University Internet historian Jim Cowie, and Google Network Engineer Jen Linkova. Their presence confirms APRICOT’s position as a cross-border strategic discussion space that brings together policies, technology and best practices for Internet network management.

Executive Director of the Asia Pacific Network Operators Group (APNOG) and organizer of APRICOT, Philip Smith, emphasized the importance of face-to-face meetings for global Internet resilience.

“In-person meetings like APRICOT help Internet operators expand the network of connections that make the global Internet stronger and more resilient,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Center) and APRICOT organizing partner, Jia Rong Low, assessed that this activity plays a crucial role in supporting safe and reliable network operations in the Asia Pacific region.

“The growth of Indonesia’s Internet in the last decade has been extraordinary, with the number of users more than doubling to reach more than 229 million people today. By hosting APRICOT, Indonesia is showing strong leadership and commitment in developing a safer and more resilient Internet,” he said.

In this conference, participants will discuss various core topics related to Internet operational management and network technology development. These include the regulation and operation of Internet Protocol version four (IPv4) and Internet Protocol version six (IPv6), including the transition to a new, larger and more sustainable address system.

The issue of routing security is also in the spotlight, including the implementation of Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) and Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS) to ensure that Internet data transmission paths remain safe and are not manipulated.

Other discussions include Internet backbone operations, peering and interconnection practices between operators, the role of the Internet Exchange Point (IXP), data center design, and strategies for increasing network capacity.

Apart from that, content distribution network technology, network virtualization, network automation, and infrastructure security are also important agendas for APRICOT 2026.

This conference also presents three intensive MasterClass programs, namely Advanced BGP, Practical Virtualization with Hybrid Strategies, and Practical Cybersecurity for Internet Operators, which are designed to increase the technical capacity of Internet operators and practitioners in the Asia Pacific region.

Each MasterClass lasts for three full days with a limited number of participants so that learning can take place in depth and interactively.
