Zelensky Threatens to Share Address of Hungarian PM Orbán Over EU Funding Block

The Hungarian government has characterized a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as an “open threat,” after Zelenskyy expressed hope for an complete to the blocking of a 90 billion euro EU loan, hinting at Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

Zoltán Kovács, a spokesperson for the Hungarian government, shared the response on X, according to European Conservative. Kovács stated that Zelenskyy’s “threats and blackmail” had “gone far beyond any acceptable norms.”

“When someone threatens to give a person’s address to Ukrainian soldiers just because he doesn’t support another €90 billion arms package, that’s not diplomacy, that’s an open threat. It’s outrageous,” Kovács wrote. He affirmed that Hungary would not succumb to blackmail.

Zelenskyy previously suggested, alluding to Orbán, that if the EU loan continues to be blocked, “the address of this person” would be provided to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He stated, “Let them call him and communicate with him in their own language.”

Hungary is currently preventing the allocation of a 90 billion euro European credit package to Ukraine. Zelenskyy recently expressed hope that Orbán’s party would be defeated in upcoming elections, potentially leading to a normalization of relations between the two countries.
